All About Nortel: Everything You Wanted to Know About Nortel But….

  • less · 1 month ago
    Its a pretty harsh piece

John Roth, a radio engineer and 30-year veteran of Nortel, had a big advantage when dealing with his company's board. He knew the telecommunications sector cold, and he could explain it in terms anyone could understand

    You mean he choked them?

The media is so polite, no word of Gary being slandered, the green CEO defrauding Motorola from day one while joining a company struggling to regain credibility, listing their largest pension shortfall as a mere footnote in their $2B bond application, a loophole closed right after, etc... their unethical conduct was endless post the largest fraud in Canada... endless

Enough already. Your message doesn't change. Go away. Stop posting. You are taking up space beating the same horse. I for one would like to get max recoupment, but fraud is probably not going to be proven. It is not a crime to be incompetent. We agree that Mike Z and the board were exactly that.

Absolutely there is FRAUD ... look at Richard Lowe, pulling out $1.7-million from his deferred compensation fund in November 2008, two months ahead of the BK filing. Lowe took a 10% penalty of $189k.

Just "good timing" that Richard took out his $$$$, while the rest of us took the fall and lost everything? I don't think so. The BoD and SLT knew - Richard Lowe knew - as early as August or September 2008 that BK was "imminent", yet, Richard writes an article soon after his own withdrawal that Nortel is not a "wilting" flower.

What a lying SOB he is. INSIDER INFORMATION. Where is the SEC? Surely there are evidence and knowledge trails of even greater fraud and deception. I hope to see the little rat out on the town one day. I won't be shy to tell him just how I feel.
  • Desk Jockey · 1 month ago
Fraud indeed. Lowe's actions reek of Ken Lay style corruption, telling the public one thing while doing the opposite in secret. This sort of mentality and these sorts of actions are what helped Nortel get into the position it is in today.

I will add my 2 cents to the fraud discussion
I've been posting here and there for last 5 years, and I was very balanced in my opinions.
Today I can just reply to all my bashers one by one to show them how much they were wrong and misleading others in thinking it was not a fraud, in thinking that NT stock would rebound, in thinking that miracles happen in cases like NT...
I encourage all my bashers to bring up any , I say any of my posts to show me I was wrong about Nortel's frauds in last 5 years!
The point is that some of the frauds will never be proved due to the Canadian justice system.
It does not prove I was wrong about Nortel and the frauds I exposed looong ago
    example
F Dunn cooked the books, it was not a mistake! It was accounting fraud
B Owens lost $500 mill in India. It was not a cost, it was the loss!
There was no profit in Q2 2005! Not triple profit as Nortel claimed. It was a loss!
There was no turning point in Nov 2006 as Mike Z claimed
There was no growth in 2008 but well estimated loss for 2008!
There was no margin improvements measured by ratios in Gaap rules, that was another lie!
2008 was the year and I said so as early as Nov 2007!
    Proto said so in 2005!
He was more unbalanced but perfectly right as well!
NT has not been in ch11 as Nortel says!
NT has been in liquidation ever since they filed for ch11.
    It's another public deception_fraud!

I was more passionate than unbalanced. =)

"The point is that some of the frauds will never be proved due to the Canadian justice system."

This is not absolutely true my good friend.
Perhaps there is a greater chance or of laxer penalties in Canada but not that they will be exonerated. This is not a given. There was fraud.

The U.S. still has SEC fraud trials with the Department of Justice all ears, just as they had done with Enron.

...more to come here I suspect and, again, we are not sure how the Canadian fraud trials will go with John Manley's law firm defending Frank Dunn, silencing his testimony that can otherwise be used against him the the USA since we do not have the 5th amendment here.

....more to come here indeed... a lot more

    looks very fishy if true.

sure there was fraud, charges, huge settlement, the whole shot.
  • nortelex · 1 month ago
Richard Lowe is a perfect example of bad corporate America....greed, corruption, incompetence, lie, shameless...I am sure plenty of other words apply to this guy ...
  • protosphere · 1 month ago
I indicated how the article missed Nortel's unethical conduct of slander and defrauding as part of their core culture. You want this silenced?

You motive is evident. by claiming fraud will not be proven too, this is misleading or that you hope to recoup get the max, and there is not such word as "recoupment". How challenged.

Low IQ troll cheerleader pumpers of the past like you argued all the way down over the years with intent like now.... It is exactly this type of flavored reasoning that perpetrates greed and fraud to "get the max" like pumpers claimed there would be no fraud settlement or now how fraud will not be proven.

Always trying to silence the truth over the years to trying to blame a latest CEO that wasn't even at the crime scene to deflect, with so many still there like you I suspect.

And never mind "we" like you are the consensus or something to paint a false stage like a thousand flies just can't be wrong, as this defies the concept of a moral majority.

Shame on you, you can not silence opposition to lies for theft or fraud for bonuses just so you can get your max now.

How do you know fraud will not be proven with the millions and millions of documents as fraud trials loom on both sides of the border.

Always wrong, always rude and unethical, always with some monetary vested interest with you clowns.

How can you get anything with their huge liabilities as what they will get to pay prioritized liabilities and big business creditors. Challenged I tell ya, we don't need misleading posts like yours instead.

Looks good on you too, to get a single thing in poetic justice with so many still there and reasoning like this. Watch and learn how the fraud trials will evolve as they did with Enron, Worldcom, Cendant, etc...Watch all the new subpoenas for this level of mass orchestration, as you seek to get the max.

Have we ever been wrong over the years even when swimming against strong tides with exhaustive substantiation that crooks hated hearing.
  • Meridian · 1 month ago
Proto - we don't mind your posts -- and some do add insight to what has unfolded over the past 2 years. - they are just too long and repetitive. Please just tighten up the prose a little and get to the point. Cheers
  • protosphere · 1 month ago
in this case the editorial missed some of my key reiterations

like who wanted to listen to me rant about the tax credits for so long, until Z man and Binning got charged for them years later, so little is said about what I point out until later

they want insight, I'll give them insight, proven insight even when swimming against the tide

I haven't forgot the pumpers like my forgiving friend yes4appl, my grandaddy set a precedent to follow in nazi defiance and I am not shy to take no prisoners, I patronize no one, and won't follow anything I feel is a violation of what is morally right. Even at the expense of seeming somewhat passionate about it or declassing by stooping to their level as you can see.

    But why shoot the messenger?

Incompetence and ignorance of laws aren't crimes, yet facilliate countless numbers of them - $12 mio here, $11 mio there. Those afflicted by the above need to be schooled. Mike walked away with his head held high and demands another $12 mio for his "competence".

Innocent until proven guilty has its limits.
  • protosphere · 1 month ago
lies for bonuses AKA- fraud, one of the largest fraud settlements on record. and so much more to come. Mikey was not at the crime scene.
  • scoop1985 · 1 month ago
Man oh man, do you have mental diarrhea or what? Do you have insider knowledge of fraud investigations? If you do, give details. My point was that your message is repetitive and never changes. You're entitled to your opinion, but I for one don't want to scroll through screens of your blather to read something that may be real insight.

BTW, I have no agenda. I come to this sight to find out information about what is happening. It is the best source of information, except for your incessantly long diatribes.

I no longer work for Nortel. I am an unfortunate unsecured creditor. I hope that there will be some payout against my claim. My expectations are low. Whether there is fraud or not will have absolutely NO impact on what is paid against my claim. I am not a "pumper". I never made excuses for the horrific management that ran the company for so many years. I was an open critic of both Roth and Chandran that they took their eyes off the business because they were too busy being taking bows. Dunn was always psycho. Owens was a feel-good bandaid. Z was a disaster.
  • protosphere · 1 month ago
My goodness you sound like such a negative soul. How rude.

Others have appreciated my proven posts over the years and if you don't like them, simply don't read them,

So many idiots harp on management now after the corpse is dead when they warned coming in that there were no miracles.

Keep on pretending there is no fraud while you are at it, your views are warped /sick.
  • scoop1985 · 1 month ago
Blah, blah, blah. Negative? Rude? You must have been looking in the mirror as you typed that. Just answer me this... do you have any information to corroborate your assertion that "How do you know fraud will not be proven with the millions and millions of documents as fraud trials loom on both sides of the border. "? I did not say that fraud didn't occur. I said that fraud is not likely to be proven. Now, if you have specific information that we don't know, do share. What documents? Otherwise, it is just an opinion....one that you some unable to express in less than 500 words/
