at $32 a share NT was $15 bill company, was it not? /when Mike Z took over/ now it's $4 bill market cap company, isn't it? yahoo says it's Market Cap (intraday)5: --$3.69B with rev of $11 bill! It must be something wrong! Question is What's wrong with NT? Why markets value NT at $3.69 bill only? Bo Gowan will tell you here that there is nothing wrong. Am I right Bo Gowan? Lets Buy more of NT stock! Stock market is WRONG about NT! It's not true that PBT is dead! It's not true that 4G is just the buzzword! It's not true that HW and ZTE are bigger than NT now! /just check huawei.com what customers think about their offers!/

I agree there used to be a partnership between the developers and the testers.........wait! development has been off shored too!
I just want to see what happens when the North American market for telecom goes through the roof again because of high gas prices. Will people want to work for a company like NT again? Will they tell them they want more that "market" money? Will they tell them to %#$& off?

exnt2 - you make a very good point. Both the LG-Nortel JV and the Microsoft partnership were programs in place when MZ and his GEniuses arrived. All they can take credit for is not getting in the way (kind of like MZ not getting in the way of the Razor when at Moto).
So what *new* initiatives can we point to from the last three years that these guys have developed? Anything besides cost-cutting or nebulous hype like 'hyperconnectivity'?
Me thinks the well will run dry pretty soon. The innovators who know how to turn ideas into businesses are gone.

LG JV was pre-Zafo. Microsoft partnership (the real thing, not just the earlier press release partnership) was post-Zafo. The LG JV seems to be generating $, no idea whats happening with Microsoft.

T.I.C. - believe what you want but the Microsoft ICA was an initiative of Owens, as was the LG JV. Note that Owens' previous CEO role was in Seattle and he and Gates/Ballmer served on boards together. By the time MZ arrived, the deal was with the lawyers and accountants to work out the details. MZ seems to be a master at stepping in and taking the credit for others work. Owens initiated the Msft and LG relationships. What can we point to that MZ can legitimately stake a claim to? I can't think of anything.

TIC. I think there is lots of investors on this blog who are paying the salary of many people at Nortel. Just keep that in mind when you respond. the fact remains that MikeZ and his cluless GE management have introduced nothing to the company and the industry other than very long blogs and some basic accounting improvements. 3 years after Z came in, Nortel value continued to decline. We love this company, but yes, we do not trust its management.
