More unusual are some of the names on the list: four executives who CEO Mike Zafirovski recently recruited from IBM, Broadcom and EMC in an effort to turn the company around.

The exec cuts signal just how bad things have gotten at the networking-equipment maker and also made analysts wonder whether the company is prepping for a breakup. “Breaking up the corporate structure and pushing it into the business units sounds like they are preparing for a sale, not saving costs,” CreditSights analyst Ping Zhao told the Journal.“Nortel is under pressure to sell itself in pieces.”
http://blogs.wsj.com/biztech/2008/11/11/who-did...
“Nortel is under pressure to sell itself in pieces.”
Tired
Tell me why?

Re: Oh My, 80 cents

Technically, if they trade at under $1 for 30 days they can be delisted under they rules. This is true, yes. However, the NYSE can also use its discretion.

I imagine being so highly traded/liquid at one time and based on past sentiment, they would indeed extend their trading for a considerably period under a buck but don't quote me on this. Look how accommodating/lenient the OSC and SEC were to get an idea, where everyone is sympathetic to minimizing further damage or assisting them.

Note that when they kept stalling their numbers for almost a year a few years ago, restating a restatement, there was a real delisting deadline looming, which they met last second. With incorrect numbers if I may add that later restated this restated restatement... and no delisting then either

In short, I think providing financial statements is of a more pressing issue than trading under $1 for an extended period and especially in their case. Albeit they are lucky they trade at all for many reasons but it looks like their luck ran out now, going bust in the not too distant future where they must be a viable entity to trade at all .

Re: Oh My, 80 cents

Thats your business. Repeating the endless line of "Nortel's finished, they're all crooks, good riddance, blah, blah, blah" is beyond ignorant. But wait, look at the name of the person I'm replying to.
